Graduation falls in June, which means the room has to work at dusk and after dark. You are lighting a space in transition. What reads as cosy at eight-thirty feels dim by ten, and most graduate parties book the hall, not the lighting.

Cost moves on three things: the size of the space, whether you want a live act or recorded music, and how much of the setup you can handle yourselves. Chairs and tables are cheap to rent and easy to move. A PA that fills four hundred square metres without feedback is not, and running it is a separate line.
